Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban movie Rating: 3.5 / 5 (for non-book readers) 2 / 5 (for book readers / fans) 2.5 / 5 (average) watched harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban yesterday. i must say, chris columbus is a MUCH BETTER DIRECTOR than alfonso cuaron. the movie was quite duh... it didn't follow the plot too closely. it left out a lot of good interesting important details, but inserted a lot of minor stupid jokes and irrelevant things/characters. soemtimes, the words they say are exactly the same as in the book, but the things they were referring to were never shown nor mentioned. and the things they say which didn't come from the book was irrelevant and unfunny and insignificant. the atmosphere wasn't dark enough, the emphasis weren't placed on the right things. it just wasn't good enough. michael gambom as dumbledore wasn't very convincing. richard harris did so much better a job. in this book, dumbledore doesn't need to look powerful and fierce and emit an intimidating air. he's supposed to have the twinkle in his eye, appear benign and kind and sometimes quite funny. it was totally off... michael gambon would have done a job as dumbledore facing you-know-who aka voldermort. i think this show didn't even deserve the 3.5 stars... maybe just 2.5 or 3. by the way, the dementors in the show don't glide. they flew. posted by Yee 11:45 AM . . .
