I Can't Help Myself...

Sunday, February 29, 2004
ok. i admit it. i face it. i'm no machine. i need a break.

it's not that i feel so worn out that i'm going to be too stressed if i don't take a break. mentally, i can. but physicall, bham. fell sick. again. really sick. influenza, heavy flu. the medicine costs a bomb. mind you, i mean a bomb. it's $5 a capsule you know. gosh... so expensive... i have to rest, sleep and sleep, plus lotsa water to get well soon. but how soon? wait long long... at least a week. i got 2 days MC though. but i think i'll still go on tuesday. i don't feel like missing another CZ lab. nnot that it's very constructive. so i'll see again... sigh, haven't paid the money at the office of finance yet... thinking of asking ting ting to help it. but she ah... always leave her homework till last minute. well that on it's own is none of my business, but i will care because at the last minute she'll come and look for me and come and disturb me. i was sleeping ok and she woke me up with the call. after that still ask me to go online. and then when i go online she's nowhere to be seen. well if you ask me to log on ICQ for you, shouldn't you at least have the courtesy to greet me when you see me online? and not just put me on invisible list? pissed me off... she's not even thinking when she has to attempt the tutorial. every question also ask for hints. please loh, i'm sure it's not all that difficult other than for some parts here and there. so annoying...

it's been so long since i blogged... everything's keeping me so busy. if i weren't sick i won't be doing all these things... i've only just watched the Truman Show yesterday, and enjoyed it. it's been, what, two weeks alredy since i recorded it? anyway, i was supposed to go for minting's (jo's baby girl) full month celebration today. but what to do? i'm sick, don't wanna pass it to a baby... told her but she didn't have the courtesy to reply me sms either... now that i mention, allan doesn't have the courtesy to reply my sms either, after he asked me to help him ask if 27 can reach jo's house. eh, yo make me go into all these trouble, shouldn't you at least have the manners to acknowledge my sms? totally rude and ill-mannered... what's this world coming to?!

ok, how can i have any blog entry without any mention of clay at all? haha, here it is...

Clay soars, Kelly rushes

TAMPA - Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken followed starmaking turns on American Idol with top-selling singles and albums. Friday at the St. Pete Times Forum, they tested whether their talents could resonate beyond the confines of the TV screen.

It wasn't presented to be a competition, but come on - these two got their careers from a competition. And while Clarkson was the first American Idol champion, Aiken - the second-season runnerup - easily stole the show.

The co-headliners followed opening act The Neu Sisters with separate sets, except for a show-capping duet of Journey's Open Arms. They alternate the opening and closing slots each night.

Clarkson was first up Friday, and her set played nothing like a true headlining gig. Instead, it was largely rushed and graceless.

A ponytailed Clarkson, while in good voice, sang with little passion and even seemed distracted. She steamrolled through most of her album Thankful like she was in a Fear Factor challenge, with barely a breath between songs.

Her delivery was largely uninspired, improving only a little with her set closers: The Idol signature A Moment Like This and her hit single Miss Independent. She sang them in a T-shirt that read "Clay Rocks" - ultimately her one resonating statement of the night.

Aiken ran right off with the show, dramatically appearing from the back of the arena to lead the band through a cover of Mr. Mister's 1980s hit Kyrie, rousing the crowd of 19,823. All night, he was charismatic and assured. Unlike Clarkson, he seemed completely at home onstage.

True, Aiken's smaller-than-life appearance was only magnified - or is that minimized - by the arena around him.

When Aiken sang I Will Carry You off his album Measure of a Man, one had to wonder: Clay, just exactly whom could you possibly carry? Mini Me? Whitney Houston?

It's too bad some of Aiken's material isn't better: The cheesy verses of I Survived You were indistinguishable from a Jack Black parody. But darned if Aiken - no doubt a fan of the word "darned" - didn't preach it like it was gospel, and darned if the crowd didn't buy every syllable.

Aiken closed by aping Prince - come to think of it, there's a guy he could carry - with a cover of When Doves Cry.

Few sights on earth could be stranger than Aiken dancing amorously with a lovely backup singer, crooning to her "the sweat of your body covers me . . . can you picture this?"

She's can't, we can't and Clay can't, but he knows it, and that makes him immensely appealing.

He's in on the joke, but his talent is serious, and Friday he seemed every inch the star. As for Clarkson - how about From Justin to Kelly II?

hi hi hi hi hi long time no see
congratulate me. i've clayverted yilin! hahahahaha...
i've decided. i shall stop referring to clay fans as claymates. clay doesn't like that. hehe.
apparently allan watched american idol 2 too. and i just told him straight "wanyu and i support clay. so if you don't like him don't say anything". and i only got a pissed look from him before he turned in another direction. haha... well, too bad.
talking about which, we're going ktv tmr. we asked the guys if they want to come. they were all so enthusiastic about it yesterday. but today they were all like... well, let's just put it this way. yiming: i got a lot of tutorials to do so i'm not going. mervyn: i may have a lunch appointment so confirm with you later. allan: is yiming going? *pengz* and he added later on that he got something in the morning so can only confirm later. oh well. on the other hand, the girls have all replied (except for cindy).
ok i'm imagining them asking tmr why we didn't ask josephine along. well... i dunno how i'll react. yesterday fadzli asked us why jo's not here. and i just say she couldn't make it. which isn't a lie, so... but yeah it's sort of a lie cos i deliberately hid from him that she just gave birth. ok. next time they ask either i'll just say she got other commitments or plainly that she just gave birth. i think she actually wants them to know... i mean just bcs people asked why she's not here doesn't mean she has to say "bcs just gave birth". can just say "other commitments" or "not free" or "can't make it" or "got something on"... why that specific? oh whatever...
anyway wanyu and i agreed that the next time we go ktv (which turned out to be this time) we'll wear the aiken #1 t shirt. haha.... i can't imagine...
well well. guess what? more trouble. so irritating. we'll see lah...
